About Vancouver College of Massage Therapy

Vancouver College of Massage Therapy equips students with the science-based knowledge along with the practical hands-on skills they need to succeed. Our students are unique, ambitious individuals coming from a variety of backgrounds, each with different goals for their future. Our instructors and administrative staff are committed to supporting students to achieve their goals and become the best possible RMTs as they move on to a successful career.

Since 2006, the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy has had a singular focus – training our students to be the best RMTs in the industry.

The VCMT Difference

Highest Passing Rates on CMTBC Registration Exams

VCMT students consistently have the highest passing rates on the registration exams in the province. Students are confident that by the end of the program, they will have the knowledge and skills to enter the profession and make an impact right from day one.

Small Class Sizes

We intentionally limit our class sizes to 28 students or less, to ensure students receive plenty of one-on-one attention and guidance by our instructors. Smaller classes mean we offer more opportunities for hands-on training, support and feedback, so students are seen and known by their instructors.

We've Got Heart

We have a diverse student body with a wide variety of backgrounds and experience, but they all have one thing in common – a deep desire to help others and make a meaningful impact in their careers. We strive to encourage and recognize the amazing qualities in our students, such as a genuine caring, compassion and empathy, throughout the program.

Part-Time & Full-Time

VCMT is the only college that offers the RMT program in both a full-time and part-time format, so students can find the best fit depending on their personal needs. See our curriculum details to determine which is the best option for you.

Low Attrition Rates

VCMT enjoys an exceptionally low attrition rate where very few students do not complete the program. When we say students are more than just a number, we meant it. VCMT offers a number of avenues for student support, along with a resiliency program.

Distinct VCMT Culture

We are a community of healthcare professionals and educators that care about others and put people in the centre of all that we do. We're looking for motivated and mature students who are passionate about learning about the human body - the type of people you'd want as your own RMT. Our values of compassion, passion, integrity, respect, and caring should be embodied by our students.

Supportive Community

VCMT has a number of programs to foster a sense of community and build avenues of support, such as our class buddy program, alumni mentorship and graduate tutors. We host many community events throughout the year to foster a sense of connectedness amongst the students and with instructors and administration. This extends to the RMT community at large with professional events.

Superb Location

Situated in downtown Vancouver, VCMT is steps away from the Burrard Skytrain station, walking distance from the West Coast Express, and on major bus routes. Students are able to commute from as far as the Fraser Valley and Squamish.

The Mend at VCMT

VCMT operates a student clinic on campus with 15 treatment rooms. Students gain valuable hands-on experience treating a variety of injuries and conditions while learning how to market themselves and build a patient base.

Our 3 Pillars

Our program is undoubtedly rigorous, but this rigour produces excellent massage therapists. VCMT’s program is built upon three pillars of excellence:

01. Academic

Our programs are designed to develop well-rounded RMTs with a solid foundation of science-based knowledge. Subjects like Anatomy & Physiology, Pathology and Neurology provide an education of the human body down to the molecular level, so students are trained to understand how the body works at the same level as many other healthcare professionals.

02. Practical

The hands-on training in practical courses is critical to students’ development of applied massage skills. It begins with foundational Swedish massage techniques and builds to specific treatment techniques for a variety of injuries and conditions as the students develop clinical assessment and reasoning. This experiential learning is integrated throughout the classroom, in our public massage clinic The Mend, and at various outreaches in the community, so students can apply the skills learned in class to a variety of clinical settings as they prepare to enter the profession.

03. Professional

Beyond academic knowledge and practical skills, students learn how to become successful healthcare professionals. We believe in the importance of professionalism and a people-centred approach where patients are treated with compassion, empathy and genuine care. Our graduates enter the workforce knowing how to navigate a variety of professional settings and the many opportunities available to them as RMTs. We love seeing the different lifestyles and businesses they create with their RMT designation.
